Important Change of date
Due to an administrative error at the host hotel we have had to bring the 2015 reunion forward one week. All other arrangements remain the same but the event will now take place from Friday 17th April 2015 to Sunday 19th April.
During the course of the last year several people approached me and said they did not really fancy the idea of an AGM as they had enough of those when they were working. I explained that it was a relatively small part of the weekend but it started me thinking that maybe we lose some potential attendees because of the terminology. I put it to the floor that we change the title to our Annual Reunion and this was passed unanimously.
We are now going to use the following terminology to describe our two reunions per year. “Our major annual reunion is a fraternal gathering of members which takes place over a weekend from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning, usually at the end of April. The annual event incorporates a business meeting where we account for the finances and review the Association’s activity in the previous twelve months. We have always found this to be a helpful members’ sounding board, and is required under our constitution, followed by an outing on the Saturday afternoon. Having had a successful pilot in Bristol in January we have decided to introduce a half yearly get-together as well and this is planned to take place in November.”
The committee has decided that in 2015 we would return to Leasowe Castle for our main reunion. It was put to the floor and passed that we will adopt a policy of rotating two years in Leasowe and two years in Chelmsford, therefore 2015 and 2016 will be at the Leasowe Castle Hotel on the Wirral. We have historically been very well looked after there and the dates for your diary are Friday 24 April to Sunday 26 April 2015.
