2016 Annual Reunion: Leasowe Castle Hotel
This year we are returning to the venue that has become our adopted home. This will be the sixth reunion that has been held there and it is a very popular location. As mentioned previously we are now going to have a rotating two year cycle of 2 years in the North West and two at Chelmsford. 2016 will be at The Leasowe Castle Hotel where we have been looked after very well historically and then we return to Chelmsford for the next two reunions. The full details of the event and the booking form are included in March QSO but in the meantime the dates for your diary are Friday 22nd April 2016 to Sunday 24th April 2016. From M56 and Chester area via M53
1) Leave M53 at Junction 1. 2) Take 1st exit at the roundabout onto A554 North Wallasey Approach for 0.4 miles. 3) Take 1st exit and at t-junction turn left onto A551 Leasowe Road. 4) After 1.2 miles at a set of traffic lights turn right into The Leasowe Castle Hotel (opposite Reeds Lane).
From Liverpool via (Wallasey, or Kingsway, Tunnel) 1) Leave the Wallasey Tunnel and follow signs towards the M53. 2) On approach to M53, junction 1, bear left and follow signs for Wallasey. 3) Take 3rd exit at the roundabout onto A554 North Wallasey Approach for 0.4 miles. 4) Take 1st exit and at t-junction turn left onto A551 Leasowe Road. 5) After 1.2 miles at a set of traffic lights turn right into The Leasowe Castle Hotel (opposite Reeds Lane).
Access by public transport
For this it is assumed that most members will arrive into Liverpool and that most will then proceed by rail. There are two methods if travelling by train from Liverpool Lime Street, Central or James Street stations. The first involves taking a Merseyrail West Kirby line train, leaving at Leasowe Station but this then involves a 0.7 mile walk which is not practical with luggage. Much the preferred option is to take a Merseyrail New Brighton line train and leave at Wallasey Village station, cross the road and catch a 403 or 413 bus in the direction of Birkenhead. The bus proceeds down Leasowe Road and the hotel is about 1.5 miles from the station – a bus stop is adjacent to the traffic lights as above.
