British Progress/GRUU. R/O was Richard Phillips who adds “don’t know when the picture was taken but I joined her on 26th June 1975 at Minah al Ahmadi Sea Island in Kuwait. She was built at Verolme in Holland. Completed late 1973 and scrapped at Kaohsiung in 1985. 225,000dwt. The reason she had such a short life was that she was built to go round the Cape as Suez was closed. Her draft was ~20 metres – too big to transit Suez which re-opened in 1975. Lovely ship. Steamer – beautiful and quiet. Two IMR5000s, an ST1600CS and an ST400 auto tuner. The biz!”
