MEMORIAL REGISTER
British and Commonwealth Radio Officers killed at sea 1939 – 1945 who have known graves or who have been buried in plots recorded by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission
The following officers are recorded in the Merchant Navy Roll of Honour published by the Department of Transport. Most of the graves or plots are registered by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. However, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission state that graves are only considered to be those of war casualties if the officer concerned died between 3rd September 1939 and 31st December 1947.
It will be seen that some of the officers included in this part of the register died after 31. 12. 47. It is considered by the compilers of this register that those officers who died before and after 31. 12. 47 were casualties of war and lost their lives in the line of duty, many as a result of injuries received in the ships given here, in conjunction with their names.
